Imagine a female singer-songwriter for The Strokes generation.
Imagine Regina Spektor, who has not only opened for
The Strokes but
whose major label debut album, Soviet Kitsch, was co-produced by one of that
band's producers (Gordon Raphael).
Born in Moscow and raised in the Bronx, this driven, complex
and endearing new artist writes songs as if she were telling a story and
her music has been likened more to the works of Russian authors Chekhov and
Gogol than to contemporary songwriters. A New York club favorite since she
made her recording debut with an independent CD in 2001, Regina has primarily
been known as a piano star but has become quite the guitar heroine as well.
That's right... when Regina's not playing her
Baldwin piano, she has her
Alley Kat in hand!
And... you can win a guitar signed by Regina herself!
All you have to do is vote for Regina at Yahoo's "Who's Next" contest over
the next two weeks and then send in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
telling them you voted. You will be automatically entered into the contest
to win the guitar as well as a $100 gift certificate to insound.com, where
you can get all kinds of great CDs including Regina's. Go to
for more details!
