Last night, the Epiphone Showroom in Austin, Texas partnered up with the Austin Film Society and Variety Magazine to host a press conference for the 15th Annual Texas Film Awards.
For over a decade, the Texas Film Awards has recognized outstanding films, performers, and directors with Texas connections as part of the increasingly influential SXSW Film Conference & Festival. The Austin Film Society has also offered grant money, training, and career opportunities for thousands of directors, actors, and other industry professionals.
The conference was moderated by Steven Gaydos, the Vice President and Executive Editor of Variety Magazine. Variety also sponsored one of the upcoming evening's highest-profile awards, the Variety Creative Impact in Cinema Award. This year's award was going to the critically acclaimed feature film Boyhood
The film's director Richard Linklater and star Patricia Arquette were on hand to continue the conversation about one of the year's most talked-about films. Other high-profile recipients included veteran star Tommy Lee Jones who received the H-E-B Texas Legend Award and fantasy/sci-fi director Guillermo del Toro who took home the Honorary Texan Award.
Besides having the Epiphone Austin Showroom serve as a backdrop for the excitement, the honorees also took the time to sign an Epiphone Les Paul which will be auctioned during the awards ceremony. Look for more great news from the SXSW Film and Music Festivals soon!
