Innovation Made Easy

Going PRO with Epiphone Acoustic/Electric Guitars

Innovation takes many forms and in the world of guitar making, small innovations can make a world of difference. At the House of Stathopoulo, the spirit of innovation is what keeps us going. If founder Epi Stathopoulo were to walk into the modern Epiphone headquarters in Nashville, he would feel right at home in the open, collaborative environment where players and designers talk shop and propose ideas.

Epiphone first made its mark in the business designing and perfecting the modern acoustic guitar and today, Epiphone's collection of Acoustic/Electric guitars are creating new standards among pro's and pro's at heart. The new PRO series featuring the Dove, Hummingbird, and EL-00, have brought on-stage amplification to a new level of detail and flexibility. The PRO-1 Ultra has virtually re-invented the so-called "first guitar" with a dozen new features, and the breakthrough FT-350SCE proves that the Min-ETune™ system is not just for new players but for pros as well.

First introduced in 1960, the square shouldered Hummingbird quickly became a classic thanks in part to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early 'Stones hits like "Satisfaction," "Play With Fire," and "Under My Thumb." Today, the Hummingbird is still a go-to acoustic for rockers like Noel Gallagher, Sheryl Crow, and Kid Rock when they need a rhythm guitar with smooth action and a superb "woody" tone.

The Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric features a Solid Spruce top. Spruce is a rich and complex tonewood that begins to breathe and improve with age. The body and neck are made from select Mahogany. The neck has a classic SlimTaper™ D profile and features a 24.75" scale and is attached to the body with a glued-in dovetail joint. The Rosewood fingerboard has pearloid parallelogram inlays. There is single ply white binding on the fingerboard and 5-ply white & black binding on the body top while the back of the body has single ply white binding. The Hummingbird PRO has the classic sloped dovewing headstock with the "Epiphone" logo in white.

On its own, the Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric can drive an all-acoustic band or be front and center at a picking party with its sweet, balanced tone. Now with the Shadow™ ePerformer™ preamp and Shadow NanoFlex™ pickup system, The Hummingbird PRO can plug-in and hold its own on any size stage.

Epiphone and Shadow Germany have worked together for over a decade at perfecting ways to amplify an acoustic guitar on stage. The Hummingbird PRO is just one of many Epiphone guitars that feature a cutting edge pickup system that can handle any size gig and still produce an "acoustic" sound. The Hummingbird PRO's controls for the Shadow™ ePerformer™ Preamp are on the upper bout and include controls for Master Volume, Treble and Bass EQ, Mute, and a Dynamics control adjusted via a frequency curve. There is also a low batter indicator. The preamp is powered by two 2032 batteries. The output jack and strap locks are nickel and the Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric is strung at the Epiphone factory with time-tested D'Addario™ Phosphor (12-53) strings. The Hummingbird PRO comes in a beautiful Faded Cherry color finish.

The Ltd. Ed. Hummingbird™ PRO also features as Solid Spruce Top and Shadow™ ePerformer™ Preamp system and comes in an exclusive Ebony finish. ...read more

Going PRO with Epiphone Acoustic/Electric Guitars

The classic Dove style acoustic guitar first introduced at the legendary Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo in 1962 became one of the first acoustic guitars to become a recognized rock and roll icon. Now, both beginners and professionals can enjoy the classic sound of The Dove plugged in with the Fishman™ Sonitone™ soundhole preamp and Fishman™ Sonicore™ pickup system.

The Dove PRO Acoustic/Electric has a beautiful Violinburst color finish and features a Solid Spruce top with 5-ply white and black binding. The body back and sides are made from select Maple for a punchy, bright tone. The hard maple 25.5" scale neck has a SlimTaper™ "D" profile and is glued to the body using a dovetail joint and Titebond™ glue.

The superb Sonicore™ pickup is set underneath the rosewood saddle. The Sonitone™ sound-hole preamp is an active preamp mounted in the soundhole with easy-to-access mounted rotary controls for Master Volume and Tone adjustment. Now you can make your adjustments during soundcheck and even fine adjustments on-the-fly during your set. The active preamp is powered by a single 9-volt battery. You can connect your Epiphone Dove PRO Acoustic/Electric to a PA or amp of your choice with a standard ¼" instrument cable. Batteries typically last up to 100 hours. ...read more

Going PRO with Epiphone Acoustic/Electric Guitars The Epiphone EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric guitar is a direct descendent of Epiphone's original line of flattops going back to the first golden age of acoustic guitars in the 1930s. The smaller "parlor" or "blues box" style acoustic guitar is favored by blues players of all eras for its compressed, woody tonal quality, short scale, and comfortable weight which makes it ideal for fingerpicking or the bark of a bottle neck slide.

Like all Epiphone PROs, the EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric features a Solid Spruce top that will sound even better with age. The top features 3-ply black and white binding. The Mahogany neck and body combined with the Solid Spruce top make for the perfect combination of tone, warmth and brilliance with a bigger sound than you would expect from a small guitar. The smaller body (15.5" wide at lower bout) and straight Rosewood bridge also influence the EL-00 PRO's distinctive voice which is more focused than a dreadnought and perfect for singers. The Rosewood bridge features a compensated imitation bone saddle. The 24.75" scale select Mahogany neck has a SlimTaper™ "D" profile with a 1.68" nut and is set with a hand-fitted dovetail neck joint using premium Titebond™ glue. The Rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, single ply black binding, 19 medium frets, and pearloid dot inlays. The tortoise shell style pickguard has a vintage metal "E" and the EL-00 PRO has a Vintage Sunburst color finish.

Like the Dove PRO, the Epiphone EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric is powered by the new Fishman™ Sonitone™ preamp and Fishman Sonicore™ pickup system. ...read more

The FT-350SCE Acoustic/Electric is the world's first affordable self-tuning acoustic/electric guitar featuring the fast, easy, and dependable Min-ETune™ system that gets you in tune quickly and accurately at the touch of a button.

The FT-350SCE comes in four brilliant color finishes and features a Select Mahogany body with a Solid Sitka Spruce Top with a cutaway for easy access to the upper frets. The FT-350SCE Acoustic/Electric is powered by a Shadow® ePerformer™ preamp and a NanoFlex™ Under Saddle Pickup System with easy-to-use preamp controls for on the upper bout and include controls for Master Volume, Bass, Treble, Phase, Mute, and Dynamics.

But what really separates the FT-350SCE from other acoustic/electrics is the revolutionary new Min-ETune™ system. For metal, rock, blues and country guitarists who are used to bringing multiple guitars on stage for songs that require open tunings, Min-ETune™ eliminates the hassle of long pauses in between songs or even the need to bring all that extra gear. Your Min-ETune™ comes with 12 popular preset alternate tunings. And in addition, you can also program up to six additional tunings yourself. You can even adjust your guitar's tunings to match other instruments such as a piano.

The Epiphone FT-350SCE Acoustic/Electric's Min-ETune™ comes with 18 preset tunings including 12 factory presets and 6 user programmable presets. The factory presets alone cover all the classic blues, rock, country, and metal tunings including Standard E, DADGAD, LOW D, DROP D, Eb, DOUBLE DROP D, OPEN E, OPEN A, OPEN D, OPEN G, DOBRO, and ALL 4th tuning. Alternate tunings are hard to master, especially for new players, but Min-ETune™ gets you in and out of 12 custom tunings in seconds. You can even tune to instruments like piano that might be slightly off of standard pitch. You take care of the playing--we'll handle the tuning.

Just push a button, strum, and your perfectly tuned FT-350SCE is ready to rock, write, or record. Min-ETune™ tunes all six strings simultaneously in seconds. Spend time playing--not tuning. (Your audience will thank you, too.) There are other automatic tuning systems that work by digitally synthesizing the sound of a tuned string. But Min-ETune™ tunes your physical strings--no tricks and no digital processing. You'll never hear one pitch coming out of your speakers and a different pitch coming out of your guitar. With Min-ETune™, what you play is what you hear. ...read more
