Tommy Thayer with Dan and Kim Agnew.
Epiphone signature artist and KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer recently had the opportunity to help raise some serious money for a great cause. Tradition Golf Club's Arnold Palmer Education Fund gives kids a chance to pursue their dreams, making higher education a reality in their lives. The fund provides college scholarships for Tradition’s employee’s children and builds an endowment to insure the ongoing sustainability of the program. For four consecutive years Tommy has hosted the Tommy Thayer & Friends dinner and music fundraiser for an exclusive audience of just 40 couples at Tradition. It's a night of amazing food and entertainment, but the live auction led by Dan Dutton takes it over the top. As Tommy was playing his Epiphone White Lightning signature Les Paul, Dan stopped the music and auctioned the guitar right off his back to Kim and Dan Agnew for $35,000. Without missing a beat another White Lightning went for an additional $35,000 to June and Kevin Johnson. Robby Krieger's stage-played Epiphone sold for another $25,000. Thanks to the generosity of all who attended, a whopping $515,000 was raised in one night.
