Behind the Scenes: Epiphone Official BLog

Why Has This Mans Photo Been On Display At Epiphone For 56 Years?

When Epiphone merged with one-time rival Gibson in 1957, Epi's brother Orphie, who took over for Epi after his death, made Gibson's Ted McCarty promise that a framed photo of Epi be on display at all times in Epiphone's new home. Today, Epi's photo still hangs in Epiphone’s newly opened headquarters in Nashville.

New Acoustic PRO Models: I Think You Will Be Impressed

New Acoustic PRO Models: I Think You Will Be Impressed

I have to say, I am pretty excited about the new Epiphone Acoustic PRO series line of guitars. We've taken three of our most popular acoustic models and added unbeatable pickup systems from Fishman™ and Shadow™ to bring these classics into the 21st century. I recently had all three in the photo studio (look for a new ad in guitar publications soon) and took a minute to play each of them. Not only do they look great, but they sound amazing. Yeah, I know, you probably think I am biased, and I'm sure I am somewhat, but I hope you will visit an Authorized Epiphone Retailer and check out the Hummingbird™ PRO, Dove PRO and EL-00 PRO for yourself. I think you will be impressed.

On Location With A Les Paul Tribute PLUS

On Location With A Les Paul Tribute PLUS

Earlier this summer I conducted a photo shoot with an Epiphone Les Paul Tribute PLUS in Faded Cherry. Images from the session made it into the 2013 Epiphone calendar but I thought I would share one I really like that didn't. For all my fellow camera nerds out there, this image was captured by a Canon EOS 7D in Aperture Priority mode at f/2.8 and 1/200 sec. ISO was 100 and Focal Length was 42.0mm. But even if you couldn't care less about that, the bottom line is, this is one gorgeous guitar! Find out more about the Les Paul Tribute PLUS by clicking here.

Our friend Jorg Moller from Rockland Music in Germany sent us this picture recently. This is Jorg's grandson, Emilio, who is starting life out in an Epi-Rockin' way. Zakk Wylde would be proud.

The new Epiphone Tommy Thayer "Spaceman" Les Paul Standard print ad is about to hit the streets. I received a pre-copy of the upcoming February 2013 Guitar Player which features the ad on page 15. The great photo of Tommy was captured by legendary music photographer Neil Zlozower while product photography and layout were done in-house, here at Epiphone Headquarters in Nashville. Check out the Epiphone Tommy Thayer "Spaceman" Les Paul Standard at www.epiphone.com.

Mayday Guitarist Monster

Mayday Guitarist Monster

Mayday guitarist Monster dropped by Epiphone Headquarters in Nashville earlier today to check out a few guitars. The band is playing a show in San Francisco tomorrow night before returning to Taiwan. Mayday have sold more than 1 million albums and won the Golden Melody Award (Chinese equivalent to the Grammy Awards) for Best Band in 2001, 2004, 2009 and 2012.

The Silverburst and a '39 Coupe

Behind the scenes, on a very hot summer day in Nashville, Tennessee, I had a photo session with a Silverburst Jack Casady Signature Bass and a 1949 Chevrolet 2-door coupe. Thought I would share some of the results.

Looking Like An Epiphone Picture Book

Wow. 2013 is almost upon us and is sure to be busier than ever. Don't you wish there were some way to keep things organized this year? You know, maybe a calendar with some cool Epiphone guitar photographs. Hmmm… well, all I can say is, I've been creating a lot of images the past few weeks and the floor at Epi Headquarters is looking like an Epiphone picture book this afternoon.

Rock On! Into The Future.

The Epiphone roots run deep around here and we are also making sure they grow into the future as well. Epiphone EU representative Sjoerd Reijans' son just received his first electric guitar. A Zakk Wylde Bullseye VeeWee, of course! Check out the cool Epiphone wrist band, too! We have a feeling this is the start of a long line of Epiphone guitars in this little guy's life. Rock on!
