Epiphone's Guide to the Rocksmith Revolution

10.14.2011

For years, aspiring guitarists have been asking for a video game that allows you to use your own guitar while also teaching you how to play---for real. Well, the future is here! Get ready for Rocksmith™.

On October 18, Ubisoft will unleash Rocksmith™, a breakthrough in interactive guitar video games that allows you to "plug in" and play using a first-of-its kind Real Tone Cable with a 1/4"-to-USB plug, included in the game.

Best of all, we've made it easy for you! Through an exclusive partnership with Ubisoft you can now jump right in by purchasing Rocksmith™ together with an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. Additionally, throughout the Rocksmith™ game and learning experience, you'll see the Les Paul Junior in action on the screen as well as many other well-known Epiphone and Gibson guitars.

Ubisoft chose Epiphone as the model guitar for the ultimate Rocksmith™ experience after trying out many other brands. They were impressed with Epiphone's 135+ years of rich musical heritage, quality and performance. In every way, Epiphone is consistent with Rocksmith's positioning statement "Authentic Guitar Games." That comes as no surprise to Epiphone fans. In the last few years, we've turned up the heat with models like the Les Paul Ultra III, Jeff Waters Annihilation V and the Phant-o-matic Frank Iero Signature model. And now with Rocksmith™ and a Real Tone Cable, you can take your favorite Epiphone into a whole new world.

The Plug In and Play Revolution: Rocksmith™ is the first and only video game where players can plug in any real guitar with a Real Tone Cable into an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or PC, and play through an in-depth library never before available to players in the past.

Developed exclusively for Rocksmith™, the revolutionary Real Tone Cable is an 11 ½ foot cable that turns the guitar's signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be recognized and played through video game consoles or a PC. You can also purchase a second Real Tone Cable separately so other players can plug-in and play with you using a simultaneous split-screen.

With the Rocksmith™ and Epiphone Les Paul Junior starter package, you can dive right into the game's ever-growing library which includes Nirvana, The White Stripes, and The Black Keys along with classics by The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Cream. Songs are chosen based on complexity in rhythm styles, chords, and inventive tunings including dropped-D, baritone and open tunings.

Selecting the Right Epiphone for Rocksmith: The Rocksmith™ game and cable will also be offered at many retailers separately. So, if you purchase Rocksmith and you still need a guitar or, you want to consider a different Epiphone model, we can help get you started.

As included with the pre-packaged Rocksmith/Epiphone bundle.

GOOD CHOICE! As we mentioned, for about $199 (U.S. street price), Rocksmith™ comes with our a full-size Epiphone Les Paul Junior, the very guitar used in the game and a favorite "first electric guitar" for over two generations. If you choose to purchase Rocksmith™ with the guitar, don't worry. You can still purchase the Les Paul Junior separately and it still offers the most cost effective performance. ... more info

A LITTLE MORE GUITAR! If you're looking for a 2-pickup guitar with more tonal variety, for about $249.00 you can pickup Rocksmith™ with an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, featuring the trademark shape and classic Les Paul sound that can only come from our humbucker pickups. ... more info

EVEN MORE CONTROL! Best of all, for players who want to experience Rocksmith™ with a legendary Les Paul, for $329.00 you can get Rocksmith™ and our legendary Les Paul 100, featuring a carved Mahogany body with Maple top, individual volume and tone controls, Alnico-V humbucker pickups made from the same magnets as Gibson's legendary Burstbucker™ pickups, and Les Paul's iconic signature on the headstock. .. more info

Of course, Epiphone makes a wide variety of guitars in many different styles ranging from about $129 on up to $1,000. So whatever you want, we've got it. Regardless of your choice you can be assured that any Epiphone guitar you choose will work flawlessly with Rocksmith™. Also, with our classic Les Paul design including the 3-on-a-side headstock, the guitar in your hands will look like the guitar in the game! How Do I Play? Rocksmith™ starts everyone off at the basic level so you the game can 'hear' you play. The Rocksmith™ method quickly adapts to your skill level as you play, analyzes your style, and helps you move up to new levels. And when you need more practice, Rocksmith™ will identify passages you're having trouble with and suggest practice regimes or songs to get you in shape.

This is especially great for young players just starting out. Now instead of "working" a plastic make-believe guitar, you can discover the joys of playing a great guitar like an Epiphone Les Paul Junior that you can also play on stage.

To move up in the game, you must first perform at your skill level's "venue." As your skills improve and your points accumulate, Rocksmith™ invites you to perform at your level's venue, starting with small clubs and theaters and on to arenas. After you reach the arena level, you're then onto Master Mode, which removes the interface entirely.

After Rocksmith™ invites you to perform at a venue, Rocksmith™ gives you "rehearsals" where you can choose your set list based on your current level. You can also suggest songs for your performance from the Rocksmith™ library. As you practice each song and get ready for your show, Rocksmith™ keeps track of your score and makes further suggestions on how to improve on parts that are giving you difficulty. So by the time you hit the stage, you’re not only just playing the parts, you're playing music!

Never before have guitar players at all levels been able to take their favorite instrument and simply plug-in and play a video game that immerses you in the world of guitar.

Since all of us at Epiphone are players, designers, and mavericks at heart, we know that guitar lovers everywhere--from beginners to life-long enthusiasts--are going to dig Rocksmith™. Get ready for a whole new world!

Look for this Rocksmith demonstration display at selected retailers.
