Historic Epiphone acoustics go PRO with Fishman™ and Shadow™ pickups
Since the late '50s, Epiphone acoustic guitars have been part of the soundtrack for every great era of pop music from the British Invasion, to 70s era singer-songwriters to Brit Pop. And today, Epiphone acoustic guitars are an integral part of every player's must-have arsenal of instruments for studio and stage. Now, Epiphone goes PRO with three of its most popular acoustics--the Epiphone Hummingbird, The Dove, and the EL-00 which now feature the unbeatable pickup systems from Fishman™ and Shadow™, bringing these historic Rock & Roll and Blues icons into the 21st century. Introducing the Epiphone Hummingbird, The Dove, and the EL-00 Acoustic/Electric PROs.
Hummingbird PRO - Available starting in November 2012.
Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric First introduced in 1960, the square shouldered Hummingbird quickly became a classic thanks to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early Stones hits like "Satisfaction," "Play With Fire," and "Under My Thumb." Now with the Shadow™ ePerformer™ preamp and Shadow NanoFlex™ pickup system, The Hummingbird PRO can plug-in and hold its own on any size stage.
The Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric features a solid spruce top. Spruce is a rich and complex tonewood that begins to breathe and improve with age. The more you play, the better it sounds! The body and neck are made from select mahogany. The Hummingbird PRO neck has a classic SlimTaper™ D profile and features a 24.75" scale and is attached to the body with a glued-in dovetail joint. The rosewood fingerboard has pearloid parallelogram inlays, 20 medium frets, a 12" radius, and a 1.68" nut. There is single ply white binding on the fingerboard and 5-ply white & black binding on the body top while the back of the body has single ply white binding. The Hummingbird PRO has the classic sloped dovewing headstock with the "Epiphone" logo in white.
The Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric's reverse belly rosewood bridge has a compensated saddle for smooth action and intonation. The Shadow NanoFlex™ pickup system, voiced especially for the solid spruce top and mahogany body, is under the saddle and the classic Hummingbird/flower tortoise shell style pickguard is easy to spot on stage or across a room.
Shadow™ ePerformer™ Pickup System — Epiphone and Shadow Germany have worked together for over a decade at perfecting ways to amplify an acoustic guitar on stage. The Hummingbird PRO is just one of many Epiphone guitars that feature a cutting edge pickup system that can handle any size gig and still produce an "acoustic" sound. The Hummingbird PRO's controls for the Shadow™ ePerformer™ Preamp are on the upper bout and include controls for Master Volume, Treble and Bass EQ, Mute, and a Dynamics control adjusted via a frequency curve. There is also a low batter indicator. The preamp is powered by two 2032 batteries. The output jack and strap locks are nickel and the Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric is strung at the Epiphone factory with time-tested D'Addario Phosphor (12-53) strings. The Hummingbird PRO comes in a beautiful Faded Cherry color finish.
Dove PRO - Available starting in November 2012.
Epiphone Dove PRO Acoustic/Electric The Dove acoustic guitar was first introduced at the legendary Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo in 1962. Now, both beginners and professionals can enjoy the classic sound of the Dove plugged in with the Fishman™ Sonitone™ soundhole preamp and Fishman™ Sonicore™ pickup system, designed and built with the integrity you expect from Epiphone.
The Dove PRO Acoustic/Electric has a beautiful Violinburst color finish and features a solid spruce top with 5-ply white and black binding. The body back and sides are made from select maple for a punchy, bright tone. The body back has single ply white binding. The hard maple 25.5" scale neck has a SlimTaper™ "D" profile and is glued to the body using a dovetail joint and Titebond™ glue.
The rosewood fingerboard has singly ply white binding and features a 12" radius with 20 medium frets, a 1.68" nut, and pearloid parallelogram inlays. The bridge is made from carved rosewood and has pearloid dove inlays just like vintage models. The saddle is compensated and is made from imitation bone. The classic "Dove" tortoise shell style pickguard is easy to spot on stage and is one of The Dove's most famous features.
Fishman™ Sonitone™ Preamp and Fishman Sonicore™ Pickup — Epiphone is proud to re-introduce the classic Epiphone Dove PRO Acoustic/Electric with the superb Fishman™ Sonitone™ preamp and Fishman Sonicore™ pickup system. Fishman™ is an industry leader in bringing a guitar's true acoustic tone to bigger stages.
The Sonicore™ pickup is set underneath the rosewood saddle. The Sonitone™ sound-hole preamp is an active preamp mounted in the soundhole with easy-to-access mounted rotary controls for Master Volume and Tone adjustment. Now you can make your adjustments during soundcheck and even fine adjustments on-the-fly during your set. No more running back and forth to your amp or the soundboard! Finally, your tone is in your hands right where you need it. The active preamp is powered by a single 9-volt battery. You can connect your Epiphone Dove PRO Acoustic/Electric to a PA or amp of your choice with a standard ¼" instrument cable. Batteries typically last up to 100 hours.
EL-00 PRO - Available starting in November 2012.
Epiphone EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric The Epiphone EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric guitar is a direct descendent of Epiphone's original line of flattops going back to the golden age of acoustic guitars in the 1930s. The smaller "parlor" or "blues box" style acoustic guitar is favored by blues players of all eras for its compressed, woody tonal quality, short scale, and comfortable weight which makes it ideal for fingerpicking or the bark of a bottle neck slide. Like the Dove PRO, the EL-00 PRO is ready for a whole new generation of artists with the Fishman™ Sonitone™ soundhole preamp and Fishman™ Sonicore™ pickup system.
The Epiphone EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric features a solid spruce top with 3-ply black and white binding. The solid spruce top will improve in tone as it ages. So play your EL-00 a lot! The body features select mahogany with single ply white binding on the back. The mahogany neck and body combined with the solid spruce top make for the perfect combination of tone, warmth and brilliance with a bigger sound than you would expect from a small guitar.
The smaller body (15.5" wide at lower bout) and straight rosewood bridge also influence the EL-00 PRO's distinctive voice which is more focused than a dreadnought and perfect for singers. The rosewood bridge features a compensated imitation bone saddle. The 24.75" scale select mahogany neck has a SlimTaper™ "D" profile with a 1.68" nut and is set with a hand-fitted dovetail neck joint using premium Titebond™ glue. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, single ply black binding, 19 medium frets, and pearloid dot inlays. The tortoise shell style pickguard has a vintage metal "E" and the EL-00 PRO has a Vintage Sunburst color finish.
Like the Dove PRO, the EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric now features the superb Fishman™ Sonitone™ preamp and Fishman Sonicore™ pickup system. Control over your volume and tone are now at your fingertips. No more running back and forth to your amp or the soundboard! The active preamp is powered by a single 9-volt battery. You can connect your Epiphone EL-00 PRO to a PA or amp of your choice with a standard ¼" instrument cable.
