Gibson's Custom, Art & Historic division, Gibson USA and Epiphone are providing hot guitars for the lucky winners of Hawaiian Tropic's first annual Ultimate Beach Party/ Battle of the Bands. Regional bands are squaring off in sunny locations across the United States for a chance to compete in the final competition in Hawaii, and local winners receive Epiphone Special-II and Gibson USALes Paul Melody Maker guitars. The national winner will be completely outfitted by Gibson Custom Shop with two custom electric guitars, a custom bass, and a set a set of Slingerland Drums from Music Yo.

Throughout the month of March, the coolest bands were chosen during Hawaiian Tropic Spring Break events. The competition sizzles on throughout the summer in 25 locations, and two regional finalists will be selected to travel to Oahu, Hawaii in September to strut their stuff at Hawaiian Tropic's Ultimate Beach Party at the Turtle Baby Resort.

The Ultimate Beach Party/Battle of the Bands takes place Sept. 24-28 in conjunction with the 21st Annual Miss Hawaiian Tropic International United States Pageant. Band finalists will be judged on talent, originality and crowd enthusiasm.

Hawaiian Tropic is currently in its 34th year and is the only international suncare brand manufactured by a privately owned company which specializes in skincare. Founder Ron Rice sold his first bottle of Hawaiian Tropic the same day America launched the first moon mission, July 16, 1969.
