Nike's Run Hit Wonder made its New York City debut in Central Park on July 22, 2004. Over eight thousand runners participated in the 5K/10K race while keeping pace to the sounds of A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran," Tommy Tutone's "867-5309/Jenny" and General Public's "Tenderness". Victor Pastori from The Sopranos and Trista and Ryan from the hit show The Bachelorette were also on hand to kick-off the festivities and congratulate the winners.

During this unique event, the bands performed along the race course for the runners and the event concluded with a special post-race concert featuring DEVO with their hit single "Whip It," and Tone-Loc performing "Wild Thing".

Epiphone provided limited edition Run Hit Wonder guitars as awards to the overall winners.
