Nike's Run Hit Wonder made its New York City debut in
Central Park on July 22, 2004. Over eight thousand runners participated in
the 5K/10K race while keeping pace to the sounds of A Flock of Seagulls'
"I Ran," Tommy Tutone's "867-5309/Jenny" and General Public's "Tenderness".
Victor Pastori from The Sopranos and Trista and Ryan from the hit show The
Bachelorette were also on hand to kick-off the festivities
and congratulate the winners.
During this unique event, the bands performed along the
race course for the runners and the event concluded with a special post-race
concert featuring DEVO with their hit single "Whip It," and Tone-Loc performing
Epiphone provided limited edition Run Hit Wonder
guitars as awards to the overall winners.
The Nike Run Hit Wonder
is organized and produced in conjunction with the
New York Road Runners
to promote youth health and fitness.
