Happy New Year's Eve from Epiphone

12.31.2012
This time of year we take a peak at musician birthdays in case one of our artists is lighting the candles. Who knew that December 31 was such a big day in rock?

Celebrating birthdays today are Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith, Paul Westerberg of the Replacements, and Scott Ian of Anthrax. New Year's Eve was John Denver's birthday as well. And, legend has it, New Year’s Eve was also the debut live date for the Beach Boys, The Kinks, Journey, and AC/DC.

And of course, The Beatles were on their way to London this day in 1961 for their New Year’s Day recording try-out with Decca Records, where their performance of “Besame Mucho,” “September In the Rain,” "Money," and “The Shiek of Araby” inspired someone at Decca to declare: “The Beatles have no future in show business.”  It's pretty clear who had a future in show business.

Perhaps everyone should get out their Epiphone Ultra 339 for a giant ‘heard-‘round-the-world E9 chord at midnight?

Have a safe New Year’s Eve from all of us at Epiphone.
