American Gothic in LondonThere are second acts in rock and roll and these days we're witnessing that very phenomenon with Mr. Alice Cooper, who shows no signs of letting up. His Night of Fear tour landed in Wembley Arena in London over the weekend and Cooper used the occasion to pay tribute to old friends including Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, and Keith Moon.
"The '70s were hard on all my friends. The biggest names went down the hardest. They lived fast, they died young. They left their musical mark on all of us. I hung with them. I drank with them. I rocked with them. We were the Hollywood vampires. We ruled the night. Jim. John. Keith. Jimi. It’s time to raise the dead."
The show included covers of Hendrix's "Foxy Lady" and The Beatles' "Revolution." The Revolver Golden Gods Awards sponsored by Epiphone are not that far off, and you can bet Cooper has some surprises up his sleeve. And congrats to the master showman for Classic Rock nominating Welcome 2 My Nightmare as their Album of the Year!
