Rock and Roll's greatest concert promoter, Bill Graham, was also rock and roll's greatest collector. His archive, Wolfgang's Vault, includes professionally shot video, photographs, concert footage, and multi-track analog master tapes to every concert ever promoted by Graham throughout the '60s, '70s, and '80s including shows at the Filmore West and Filmore East.
The collection of concert recordings in the vault is staggering--around 7,000--including performances by Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Steely Dan,
Elvis Costello, Joan Jett,
Alice Cooper, and Sly and the Family Stone. And they're still finding more stuff.
A recent victory in the courts against many of the artist's original record companies has given the Vault free reign to distribute masters as they please. And some more good news is on the way. For now, stay tuned and
check it out.
