This week, Epiphone's
Joe Bonamassa is featured in a new interview with
Billboard. Joe talks about the new album,
Driving Towards the Daylight, and his desire to get back to the music that first inspired him, the blues.
"This was simply blues, '
Let's go back and make a straight-ahead blues album -- as straight ahead as we can make it, which is still not technically blues but is close enough.' That was the idea this time,"
said Bonamassa.
Joe also talked about bringing Aerosmith's
Brad Whitford on board for the sessions. "It was great having a bona fide rock legend like that in the band. Brad's a straight-ahead rock guy; his playing is a little more edgy, and it's really good. And he's such a nice guy, kind of a guitar geek like me and the rest of us. We'd be sitting at dinner, talking for hours about pickups and old Les Pauls. You forget that's the dude for Aerosmith."
Joe B. goes on to mention that he's ready to begin work on a third Black Country Communion album with producer Kevin Shirley this summer. Stay tuned.
