Rock and roll fans can look forward to a great new documentary early next year on the rise, fall, and rebirth of Sound City Studios, the fantastically funky recording studio in LA that improbably produced the greatest rock and roll albums of the last 30 years including Tom Petty’s Damn the Torpedos, Nirvan’s Nevermind, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush, and seminal albums by Ratt, Metallica, Cheap Trick, Guns N’ Roses, War, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, and Johnny Cash. And that’s only a quarter of the list!
The doc includes new interviews with Rick Rubin, Tom Petty, Neil Young, and was produced by Dave Grohl with all his typical enthusiasm and passion. You can expect a lot of Kalamazoo, Michigan guitars and new Epi’s in the footage. Check out the trailer.
