Paul McCartney in the Studio

The Macca Blog has a new interview with jazz pianist Diana Krall about her recent collaboration with Sir Paul. Diana and her trio backed up McCartney on his new album of standards, Kisses On the Bottom. "Paul dreamed of a jazz album for twenty years,” said Krall from New York.

“We have the same producer, Tommy LiPuma: Tommy gave us the opportunity to talk. From our meeting, the project took shape. The idea was to work with Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder and jazz musicians," continued Krall. "But each of us was to embody a role he never played. Result: Paul sings jazz and does not touch any instrument, Stevie Wonder and I do not sing and he plays the harmonica, I'm at the piano.”

Diana goes into further detail about how Paul merged his complex and gifted sense of melody to the sessions. Don’t miss it.
