Alan McGee, the sulking, spitting, fire-breathing producer/conjurer/auteur who kicked off an entire generation of BritPop with his label Creation which unleashed Oasis, Primal Scream, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Super Furry Animals among many, has decided to jump back into the record business.
"[Creation Records] has been done is my conclusion and it will be a different model now- it's not 1999," McGee told NME. "We have some serious backers wanting to do it. It is not a nostalgia exercise."
This is great news for British music since McGee is one of the smartest and funniest movers & shakers in the business. His track record speaks for itself. And whether by design or not, all of his artists were big Epiphone fans
"We are keen to make a vehicle for music. We are just not sure what the vehicle is at the moment with the collapse of old style record labels and we are coming up with a new idea of how to do this." His autobiography, 'You Cannae Shove Yer Grannie Off A Bus' is in progress. How’s that for a catchy title? We can't wait. Stay tuned.
