Epiphone fans in the UK are wound-up today as the Stone Roses announced a free show at a 'secret' location in London. Fans who registered their email address at the Roses' recent concerts at Heaton Park will be notified of the location of tonight's free concert this afternoon.
The band's biographer, John Robb, told
NME that original drummer Alan 'Reni' Wren rejoined the band on the strength of the new material. "I have bumped into Ian Brown a couple of times and he said they have new songs," said Robb. "When Ian and John first met for the first time after the funeral [of bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield's mother] they started writing songs and those songs were given to Reni, and that is what persuaded Reni that he wanted to go back with The Stone Roses because the new songs sounded so good."
