Stones Unturned

02.02.2012
Keith and MickThis week The Rolling Stones released another gem from their archives, a live recording from the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia in 1981. The tour followed the release of Tatoo You, which was mostly drawn from unfinished tunes from Some Girls, Black and Blue, and even Exile on Main Street. We should all have leftovers that sound so good.

Tatoo You
produced two huge hits, "Waiting On A Friend" (featuring the great Sonny Rollins on sax) and "Start Me Up" along with some killer rockers and a whole side of Chicago-style soul. The concert took place on Keith's 38th birthday and in Hampton, Keith (who played a Casino on his first U.S. tour with the Stones) and Charlie lock in for some killer grooves on "Hang Fire," "Let It Bleed," and Smokey Robinson's "Goin' To A Go Go." Check out the Stones Archive for more info and a free download of "Waiting On A Friend."
