Pop Go The Stone RosesCheck out the great new trailer for Made of Stone, the new Stone Roses documentary directed by Shane Meadows. If you're not familiar with the Manchester quartet and wonder what all the fuss was about, The Stone Roses' debut album in 1989 set the stage for a British pop guitar revival that influenced not only the Gallagher brothers of Oasis (and pretty much every UK band since) but helped reignite the career of Paul Weller as well.

Their debut album is getting a remastered vinyl release with extra tracks and is still considered one of the best UK pop albums ever made. Considering the Stone Roses rise above Oasis, The Smiths, The Jam, and even The Beatles among many UK fans, that alone should tell you being a Stone Roses fan is as emotional a subject as, well, Manchester United football.

Their reunion last year was big, big news in the UK and a new Stone Roses album is due out later this year.  Bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield has been using his customized Jack Casady bass on tour (and in the film) exclusively and the band still powers their pop with Les Pauls.  Look for the film in cinemas everywhere June 5.
