Epipohone's Zakk Wylde told Artisan News
that he would love to participate in a Pantera reunion and tribute concert to Dimebag Darrell if the surviving members of Pantera would consider it. "It'd be up to Vinnie, Phil and Rex - they're the guys that make everything happen," said Wylde. Darrell was killed by a mentally unstable fan during a concert in Ohio in December, 2004.
The question of Zakk joining Pantera for a tribute/reunion has been heard frequently at Wylde's press conferences and even though he's now promoting his excellent new Unblackened
DVD and cd collection, fans still want to know if he's up for taking on Darrell's out-of-this world guitar parts. Darrell ranks #92 on Rolling Stone's
100 greatest guitarists of all time and #1 in UK's Metal Hammer
"They (Pantera) changed the game, as far as extreme metal goes," continued Wylde. "I mean, they're the kings of it. But it's up to the fellows. Then it would just be me woodsheddin' 25-8, learning all of Dime's parts, you know what I mean?! Yeah, but like I said, as far as I'm concerned, it would just be honoring Dime."
