Longtime Epiphone signature artist and Casino
devotee Gary Clark Jr. and Eric Clapton are slated to perform together at Hyde Park in London next summer on July 8 along with Santana and Steve Winwood with more guests to be announced soon. It will be a reunion of sorts for Winwood and Clapton who first performed together in Hyde Park in 1969 as members of the band Blind Faith.
Earlier this year, you might recall that we saw Clapton perform at Madison Square Garden where he took up Mr. Clark's signature Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Blak & Blu Casino
in a jam with Clark on Bo Diddley's "Before You Accuse Me." It's been decades since we've heard Clapton on stage with an archtop and he sounded right at home. Epiphone has been, after all, the choice-guitar for many of Clapton's guitar heroes including Howling Wolf, Otis Rush, Magic Sam, and of course, Beatle extraordinaire
George Harrison. Let's hope EC has now seen the error of his ways and sticks with the Casino in the future! Check out the video below and read our interview with Mr. Clark
about the making of his Signature Epiphone featuring Gibson USA P-90s.
"I pretty much knew from day one that I needed a few things for my arsenal," Clark told Epiphone. "The Epiphone Casino is the one that always stood out. I didn't put anything extra on it. I like things as-is, you know? Whatever it is right off-the-shelf. The paint job to me was everything. I could have painted it myself but I went, the professional route and let the guys who made it do the painting (laughs). Everything is pretty much as it would be. To be honest, I loved the original prototype. Maybe I need to step out of the studio and see what's going on."
