Our pal bassist John Billings just wrapped up a U.S tour with the The Monkees' Micky Dolenz and Mike Nesmith. Check out his cool Epi rig of a Masterbilt Century Acoustic/Electric Bass and the Thunderbird Vintage PRO!

The legendary band will reconvene in June to visit New Zealand and Australia including the historic Sidney Opera House. Billings is a longtime member of the House of Stathopoulo family of musicians and he's a big reason why fans and critics alike are giving the band rave reviews this year. Nesmith and Dolenz are sounding terrific on the classics including, "Hey, Hey, We’re the Monkees," Neil Diamond's "I’m A Believer," and "For Pete’s Sake," which the band has dedicated to the late great Peter Tork who died earlier this year. Read our classic interview and visit the band’s website for tour updates.

"Those early recordings were in a time of pop pioneering, which to me made that decade so exciting. No rules," said Billings. "They'd try ideas, take risks, argue, create, take the time to explore the recording space and tweak the song until it was right. Wrecking Crew, Nashville A team guys, different musicians and producers...I feel like these guys along with the producers and writers involved were all trying to do that very thing--and they succeeded! Want proof? They're still here after 52 years and tomorrow night I'll be playing this show yet again.

I can say with ease that these two are having the best time every night and love the reactions they're getting...I know I've had a total blast!"
