When Joe Bonamassa stopped by Epiphone
HQ in Nashville last month, he showed of his prized vintage 1960 Les Paul Standard
and also took the time to give us some pointers on how to negotiate the volume and tone pots on both his vintage Les Paul and his Ltd. Ed. Epiphone Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Goldtop
to get great tones from the humbucker pickups. Joe's suggestions on how to achieve great tones on a Les Paul were simple enough but getting there--for most of us--won't be quite as easy.
Joe found both instruments had a lot in common ("wow, this is a great one
," he said of his signature model while blasting out licks) and it didn't take much volume from either instrument to get a variety of great tones. Joe does make it look easy. And like the man says towards the end of this clip, you don't want to hurt someone with your guitar. Be sure to pickup Joe's new album, Driving Towards the Daylight.
