Ambassador for Epiphone Guitar
Company
Dr. Will Jones, Professor of
Epiphones musical mission is to represent and inform the world of the
features and advantages, the rich history and superior quality of all Epiphone
products, as well as the fun and life-enriching experience of self-expression
through music.
Music and Entertainment
Background
Like Epiphone, performance is
Wills passion. Will has been singing along with records and the radio
and banging on guitars, pianos and drums and household furniture since he
was a very small child. He got his first good drumset and Les Paul Custom
when he was an early teenager. Self-taught, he would play along with records
from AC/DC, KISS, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, George Thorogood and various favorites
from the radio.
Will joined his first band at twelve,
rehearsing in a hot attic and performing at school. After school he had a
successful career as a radio personality, but missed playing live music.
He joined a rock-a-billy band as
a drummer, and within a couple of years, he formed his own band, lead singer
and rhythm guitar for Will Jones and the Western Fringe, an alternative country
and rock original act. Will wrote all the songs.
Will got his first Epiphone as a
prize on a game show. Impressed with the quality and value, he bought an
Epiphone PR6 electric/acoustic guitar to play with his band. This love and
experience with Epiphone products prompted him to open his instrument shop,
which stocked primarily Epiphone and eventually Gibson.
After a few years of playing hundreds
of gigs with his band, the Western Fringe, he got his own weekly TV show,
Will Jones and the Western Fringe Variety Hour which is in its
eighth year of broadcast. It features sketch comedy, starring Will and his
original songs, Will has also received national airplay from his CD
Western Fringe featuring the hit Skanky, which has
even appeared on a movie sound track. Wills holiday hit Reindeer
Doo still plays on radio stations across the country every year around
Christmas-time.
While at Epiphone Will has performed
as an integral member of the Epidemics in Nashville, Los Angeles and Germany,
lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the Dr. Epiphone band in Japan, China,
Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States. He has performed guest
lead vocals for rock legends Twisted Sister on multiple occasions and Teddy
Zig Zags (of Guns & Roses) ScreaminCocktail Hour in California.
Will is currently forming a new rock project in Nashville and will be performing
again worldwide in 2007 spreading goodwill and the message of Epiphone value
and fun, including a multi-city tour of China with the Road Hammers in
May.
Prior to Epiphone, Will co-owned
a small music store which sold Epiphone and Gibson products, as well as managed
the Ernest Tubb Record Shop store with the weekly live radio show, The Midnight
Jamboree.
In addition to his current role
as Professor of Epiology, Will has worked in various positions at Epiphone
including Trade Channel Support Manager and Product
Specialist.
Will also hosts a weekly music spotlight
radio show on Internet radio called Eclectica with Will Jones, which features
music and live interviews from interesting artists and songwriters from every
genre of music. The show is heard worldwide every Friday night at 10pm CST
at nashvilleradio.biz.
Will occasionally authors an advice
column for musicians and singers called Ask Dr. Epiphone in Singer
and Musician magazine, a national bi-monthly publication.
You can also spot Will on-camera
in a few regional TV commercials and major music videos as he also does various
voice-over/talent jobs for radio and TV as an occasional hobby. Will also
performs emcee duties at many various events every year.
