Drive the expansion of plant capabilities and capacity through automation, process improvement, and implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices.  Responsible for supporting production, leading continuous improvement activities, scrap reduction initiatives, improving manufacturing processes, and increasing productivity through innovative problem-solving techniques.

 

Essential Functions

 

Main duties

  • Evaluate and improve existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment to expand production capabilities and capacity. 
  • Develop Lean initiatives to drive manufacturing efficiency improvements for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. 
  • Provide robust processes and tools to reduce variation in the manufacturing processes. 
  • Perform workflow analysis and conduct time studies to optimize production operations.
  • Configure facility layouts, material handling systems, and material staging to establish maximum utilization of space, equipment, and labor capacity. 
  • Identify and problem solve production bottlenecks and sources of variation. 
  • Analyse and review data using statistical tools to make recommendations on immediate and long-term actions. 
  • Resolve technical problems that have significant impact to quality, delivery, and cost. 
  • Partner with production operators to providing training, guidance, and hands on support for sustaining stable processes. 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of tooling, machinery, and new product lines. 
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of existing and new product lines.
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and propose improvements.
  • Present insight and recommendations to management for decision making and strategic planning. 
  • Support multiple production shifts based on project assignment and current and future production schedules. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Effective at summarizing and presenting data to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Strong planning and project management skills. 
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams consisting of Engineering, Production, and Quality.
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work as a team.  
  • Self-motivation and accountability. 

 

Required Education and Experience

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience with robotics and manufacturing automation preferred.  
  • Process capability and statistical modelling experience preferred.  
  • Lean manufacturing experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.

Travel Requirements

 

  • Less than 5%, across other facilities.

 

Physical Demands
