Job Summary: Responsible for all regulatory compliance aspects of New Product Development (NPD) and existing products for musical instrument amplifiers, loudspeaker systems, microphones, signal processing gear, and any other products requiring safety and EMC compliance. Duties will include but not limited to: Working with and advising a global development team on product design requirements/review related to associated EMC and product safety standards, creation and documentation of an engineering standards guide in relation to regulatory compliance, perform pre-agency testing and review of associated documentation. Ensure all product labelling and documentation requirements are met and documented.  Serve as the main point of contact with multiple test labs and agencies globally.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with R&D to establish best practices pertaining to regulatory compliance.
  • Management and interpretation of international regulatory standards
  • Work with regulatory agencies globally to ensure compliance of all pertinent products.
  • Maintain all required documentation for global regulatory product compliance and ensure distribution to all necessary parties.
  • Be a professional resource for R&D by participating in the NPD process and overseeing any aspects of the designs that will affect regulatory compliance. 
  • Perform and document pre-agency safety and EMC compliance testing.
  • Provide technical support to PM’s, Creative Services, QA, and Engineering as needed
  • Ensure that compliance information on all affected products is current and to standards requirements i.e. product literature, carton artwork, product labelling, silkscreens, etc.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work with and gain support from a global product development team.
  • Ability to create technical documentation.
  • Proficient with analogy and digital electronics test equipment including RF spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, LCR bridge/meter, multimeter, function generator, etc.
  • Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience necessary.
  • Deep knowledge of worldwide safety and EMC compliance standards.
  • Basic understanding of electromagnetic wave theory and propagation.
  • Audio product design and development is a plus.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workbench and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Travel may be required to multiple R&D facilities, test labs, and factories.   Approximately 10%
