Job Summary: Overall global commercial leadership of International Distributors/Export markets to deliver the annual sales, margin and distribution objectives identified in the strategic and annual plan. The Export Director (Director of International Distributor/Export Management) is responsible for all Distributor related functions and is the global Distributor subject matter expert. The person in this role is a member of the Global Gibson Brands Commercial Leadership team. Develops and implements the international distributor/export portfolio strategy, policy, authorization, qualification standards, application standards and toolbox for all regions in line with Gibson Brand portfolio direction. Drives strong revenue, relevant distribution penetration growth, and brand building initiatives. Ensures that distributors meet brand standards, distribution standards/compliance, financial targets, and legal obligations. Builds and right sizes market leading distributor/export portfolio. Provides distributor toolbox and guidance to GTM distributor managers in EMEA and Asia and supervises the Latin America Export Manager. Manages directly key distributors in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Essential Functions:
- Design the global distributor strategy and policy, aligned with global brand strategies to achieve sales, market share, distribution, margin, and profitability objective. Develops 3-year strategic business plan (SBP), the annual (budget) and seasonal export growth plans.
- Defines distributor selection and qualification criteria, evaluate potential distributors, and build high performance distribution network.
- Sets clear Distributor targets and KBDs and KPI objectives (financial, distribution, product category, marketing, etc); this includes targets for regarding vertical and horizontal distribution and the different channel segments (Wholesale, DTC); Establishes distributor performance reporting cadence, track, and report progress.
- Partners with cross functional teams (Product, Marketing, Operations) for best-in-class distributor/export toolbox development and distribution (e.g.: Price Lists, Samples, Digital Catalogs, Feature & Benefits, GTM Calendar, etc.)
- Directly manage dedicated Export Manager; Provide direction, motivation, coaching and feedback.
- The Export Director may be requested to prepare, participate in, and/or lead projects and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in Order to Cash process operation.
- Commercial Distributor Toolbox Development and Assortment Planning (Channel Right Assortment)
- Good understanding of Retailing and Ecommerce: Growth Levers, KBDs, Retail Math, Merchandising Metrics
- Good Brand and Marketing skills; expertise in Shopper-, Recommender and Influencer Marketing
- Skilled in CRM systems as a user
- Online and digital savvy
- Experienced/Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook and Business Tools
- Able to proactively question and challenge to prioritize and identify solutions in timely manner.
- Ability to remain objective and exercise good judgment, decision making, diplomacy and discretion.
Education and Experience:
- 10-15 years’ relevant work experience in Commercial and/or Sales leadership roles in managing Distributors and Export business, with responsibility across revenue, margin, and EBIT contribution.
- Track record in leading and developing international (commercial) teams.
- Proven track record in leading explosive growth and building strong brands.
- Experience in working in a dynamic international premium branded consumer goods company is preferred.
- Has worked in an international matrix organization (experienced to successfully work in a multi-stakeholder, international environment and navigating a matrix organization)
- Demonstrates specific, substantial experience in developing international Distributor/Export policies and contracts, setting distributor selection criteria, establishing long term business plans and annual objectives, and establishing terms and conditions.
- Post-secondary education in Business/Marketing or related area or equivalent experience (Bachelor/master’s degree)
Travel Requirements:
- Local and International Travel required; Distributor, customer, and market visits; periodic travel between Gibson Regional Brands locations, Commercial Meetings, Tradeshows events; (total travel rate approximately 10-20%).
