This role is responsible for the review and improvements of the warehousing, logistics and planning side of supply chain. This includes the areas of warehouse design / implementation project management / CAPEX scope and management, inbound freight, inventory turns and overall DC improvement activities. This role is responsible for the design and implementation of new warehouse requirements and on going efficiency improvements to include: WMS software selection, design, blueprint and launch, warehouse physical design, warehouse process flow, warehouse inventory cycle count program integration and yard management. This role will also work with the Inbound Buyer/Planner team to engage suppliers and determine the optimal transportation and order sequencing needed to balance freight cost, inventory cost with the needs of the warehouse operations teams. Additionally, this role will work heavily with the Logistics team to create an inbound planning book for finished goods that is maintained quarterly and assists in the design of reports that map actual expenditures to planned expenditures by lane. This role will work closely with the Distribution Center Team, Logistics Team, the Supply Chain Engineer – Facilities, Buyer/Planners and the Demand Planning team.

 

Essential Functions


  • Assist the Demand Planning and overall Supply Chain organization in RDC rationalization and inventory planning requirements for finished goods planning by global region.
  • Execute warehouse / DC rationalization projects to include but not limited to: Warehouse design, flow analytics, project management over the physical creation of locations, equipment charging stations, inspection stations, receiving areas and staging areas. 
  • Oversee CAPEX spending and align spending to approved budget requirements. 
  • Lead/assist in the selection and implementation of needed WMS and TMS system improvements and be the check point in balancing system processes with business practices and labor.
  • Assist in excess and obsolete product identification and management.
  • With the Logistics Team, build and maintain a logistics lane planning book that is maintained quarterly and provide analytics for the actual spend and time taken for shipping lane activities. 
  • Maintain a log of issues / incorrect charges from logistics/shipping sources and work with the logistics team to provide data to charge back or block invoice payment for incorrectly charged items.
  • Maintain a list of prioritized projects and report on status and completion and through the guidance of the Supply Chain Operations Manager reprioritize as needed to assure that the most urgent needs of the business are met.
  • Metrics for this role are: project completion on time, project results versus planned results, improved labor efficiency in the warehouse.

  

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong organizational, project management and follow up skills           
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability and a form of CAD / facility drawing capability
  • Warehouse implementation and project management skills                 
  • Clear communicator with a strong ability to navigate through data to “tell the story”
  • Demonstrated ability to function within cross team collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to generate source to destination flow maps, RDC rationalization and heat maps

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated improvisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading warehouse creation / improvement efforts to include warehouse design, automation and systems integration on time and within budget
  • Facility layout and CAD or related system utilization
  • Demonstrated experience in completing logistics improvement projects and capturing results

 

Essential Knowledge

  • At least 10 years of related warehouse / distribution design and improvement 
  • WMS systems, TMS Systems and facility integration to said systems including automation
  • Facility creation from design through execution and budget management
  • Knowledge of global logistics lane mapping
  • Freight calculation components, overall global ocean and air freight lanes
  • Microsoft D365 knowledge a plus

Travel Requirements

  • 30% across other facilities.

Physical Demands
