OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

 

Ensures that the Gibson Brands, Inc delivers a quality product by inspecting Gibson guitars to established quality levels and standards in a specialized, specific manner requiring advanced guitar playing & set up experience and skills with the ability to conduct musical instrument repair.

 

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate Form, Fit, Function & Finish of Gibson Instruments
  • Verify Proper Instrument Set Up  - String Action, Neck Set, etc
  • Complete Instrument Checklist, Shipping Label, Photo Generation
  • Scan Instrument Into RFID Database System
  • Log Defects Into Defect Database
  • Conduct Advanced Musical Instrument Set Up & Repair
  • Problem Solve & Communicate Instrument Defects To Departmental Team Leads & Supervisors
  • Standing For Long Periods of Time – (8-12 hours)
  • Maintain and Clean Designated Work Area
  • Support In Any Area of Gibson Brands, Inc That Requires Assistance

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 Years Guitar Playing Experience
  • Minimum of 5 Years Advanced Guitar Set Up Knowledge - Ability To Evaluate & Assess Acceptable Instrument Playability, Structural Soundness, Cosmetic Adequacy of Electric/Acoustic/Bass Guitar, Bluegrass & Folk Instruments By Conducting Full Instrument Set Ups (Neck/Truss Rod & String Height Adjustments, Floyd Rose Set Up, etc.)
  • Minimum 2 Years Basic Guitar Repair Skills – Soldering Skills, Electronic Schematics, Bridge Modification, Fret Repair/Replacement, Finish Wet Sanding & Buffing, Parts Replacement, etc.
  • Ability To Adhere To Gibson Internal  Quality Specifications & Standards

 

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Basic Computer Knowledge – Excel, Word, Web Based Cloud Applications, RFID Scanning
  • Solutions Oriented Approach to Challenges/Issues
  • Strong Team Work Ethic
