Job Summary:

 

The Product Development Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the Product Development CAD Team, creating all New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering documents for handoff to US factory teams, and actively participating in nearly every stage of the NPI process. This role will require coordination with the Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Production, Programming, and Data Operations teams. The Product Development Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Product Development and the role will be based at the downtown HQ offices with occasional travel to manufacturing locations.

 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Managing new product design, prototyping and initial phases of the NPI process
  • Creating New Product Introduction engineering documents and handing off to appropriate QC and factory teams for creation 
  • Managing new product design, prototyping, and testing a product's development
  • Leading the Product Development CAD Design Team to complete New Product Introduction projects as well as Procurement and QC team projects
  • Producing details designs and/or CAD drawings
  • Acting as technical expert on products and processes
  • Establish and maintain a meeting cadence for Product Development stages of every NPI
  • Maintain timelines for NPI projects in accordance with the launch times set by the Product Development, Marketing and Commercial teams
  • Updating Product Lifecycle Management program with project progress, ETAs and deliverable dates

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Excellent communication skills required.  Up front knowledge of the product, requirements, and impact to manufacturing operations will be a must. 
  • Proficiency with a variety of CAD programs including Solidworks and Fusion360
  • Solutions oriented approach to challenges/issues
  • Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a team

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • BS degree preferred or equivalent with Engineering degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of Leadership\Managerial experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Stringed instrument engineering experience required
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize workload to meet organizational timelines in a fast paced, very high-growth environment

 

Travel Requirements:

  

  • Occasional travel to and between the company’s manufacturing locations is required (< 15%).
